We welcome all visitors licensed or not who share an interest in amateur radio.

The KARS group operates a 2 meter repeater. The repeater, KT5TX with an output frequency of 147.200(+) and a PL of 141.3, is located in Katy at an elevation of 140′.

The KARS Net is held every Tuesday at 8:00 PM on the KT5TX repeater.  (Click HERE for the net procedure)

The KARS monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:30PM at West I-10 Fire Station #4 on Franz Road, just east of Grand Parkway (99).  Come join us!  (Click HERE for a map)

The KARS group also meets every Saturday at 8:00AM at Alcaliente 20210 Katy Fwy on the north side of I-10 and west of Fry Rd for coffee and breakfast. Wednesday evenings around 07:30 PM a smaller KARS group meets at Starbuck’s also just south of I-10 on Mason for coffee.

In June of each year we  gather to compete in ‘Field Day’ – a worldwide amateur radio happening. Pictures will be uploaded when available for this event.

KARS is also active in the Harris County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES).

Application for full membership in the Katy Amateur Radio Society is open to any currently licensed amateur radio operator with any class of license. The application is available as an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) document. (Hint – you may want to right click, and choose ‘save as’ to move the file to your computer)
