Until further notice all testing sessions require pre-registration, no walk-ins

The Katy Amateur Radio Society offers testing six time per year. We offer the test every other month starting in January.  The testing date is generally the Saturday before the monthly meeting which is held on the 2nd Monday of the month. All testing dates are listed on the club website in the events section.

Walk-ins are welcome, but we’d like a quick email letting us know when you plan to attend a session so we can staff the sessions accordingly.

If you have any question please reach out at to our VE coordinator Gerald Doucet at testinginfo@katyars.com

Please bring the following to your testing session:

1) Your ID (driver’s license or passport), for ID verification only, we do not need a copy.

2) IF YOU ARE TAKING AN UPGRADE EXAM, a copy of your current Amateur Radio License. We must have a copy to send to the FCC with your test results.

3) The testing fee is $15.00, a check made out to “ARRL/VEC” or cash (exact amount please). You can take as many tests as you wish for the one fee, as long as you pass each test.

4) You are allowed a calculator with all memory cleared. You are NOT allowed to use your cell phone as a calculator.

5) Scratch paper is allowed. You will not need more than one sheet. It must be turned in with your test answer sheet.

6) Please bring 2 pencils and an eraser. We will have extras if you need it

7) You can download and complete Section 1 of the NCVEC Quick Form 605 Application found at http://www.arrl.org/files/file/VEs/NCVEC%20Form%20605_2018_Interactive.pdf We will have extra copies of this form if you are not able to download it.
