KT5TX 2m repeater is back on-line

We are happy to report our 2 meter repeater is back up and functioning properly. We will resume using the 2 meter repeater for our weekly Net starting tomorrow evening, 5/30/17 at 8pm.  Thank you to our team of members that got it done!

KARS General Meeting – Monday, May 8, 2017

• Meeting called to order at 7:30 PM
• The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
• “Intro to D-Star” presentation by Bill Pellerin, KE5XV, and Hal Fuglaar, N5BXP. Presentation will be posted on KARS website within a few days.
• BOD minutes were read; Jimmy raised motion to approve and Jack seconded. BOD minutes were approved.
• New Member Applications – no applications were presented at this meeting.
• Net Control Operator assignments from May 16 – June 20.

• There were 26 members and 3 visitors in attendance.
• Meeting adjourned at 8:34 PM
VHF/UHF Antenna – George explained that Dr. Ed Fong will provide a special pricing of $27/ea. for a group order of the dual band antenna that he presented at the April meeting. Any members that are interested in purchasing this antenna should contact George.
KARS Repeater Update – Jimmy Vance: The Kenwood TKR-750 repeater has arrived. Still need to purchase power supply and coax but expect it to be on air within a week or so.
Treasurer’s Report – Raul Ramos: After the purchase of the TKR-750, the current balance is $3733.13.
KARS Field Day – June 24-25, 2017: It was suggested that we partner with Brazos Valley Amateur Radio (BVARC) as well as several other clubs, to be held at Pecan Grove Plantation, Richmond, TX. Cost of $150 to be incurred by KARS. Mike Brannan raised the motion to approve and Darrel seconded. Membership voted unanimously in favor. More details to follow.
Remote Ham Station – Dan presented the BOD’s decision to set up the KARS HF station for Remote Ham access, along with the plan to relocate the station to Mark’s property. General vote was called for – all members were in favor of this decision.

Next Smoke Alarm Blitz – currently scheduled for June 17, 2017.

CERT Training

Cy-Fair CERT is now taking Registrations for our 2017 Classes. The next class will be held from 6:30p.m. – 9:30p.m. starting Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Classes will be held at Lone Star College-Cy Fair Emergency Services Education Center, 18132 West Road, Cypress, TX 77433.
