Houston/Galveston Extreme Weather Ready Expo

June 8, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

https://www.hurricaneworkshop.com/

The annual Houston/Galveston Extreme Weather Ready Expo continues to grow in attendance and notoriety. The event, the largest of its kind in the nation, has approximately 2,500 attendees each year. The success of the event is due to its partnership with private and public entities from its inception. The free weather preparedness event has garnered national attention and recognition for its efforts to prepare residents for extreme weather situations through presentations, interactive exhibits, hurricane season forecasting and more.

Everyone should attend even if you cannot volunteer.

Hams are needed to work as volunteers.  Contact person is George Flethcher AD5CQ  gfletcher5@att.net.  Hours of service range from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.  Some assignments can start later than 6:30 am.  Amateur radio operators are being requested to provide communication support during the event.

You will need a dual band HT, earphones, extra power source, comfortable walking shoes, writing pen & notebook, and bag to put stuff in that you pickup during the day.  A continental breakfast will be served along with a box lunch.  Volunteers will receive some time off during the day to visit the event booths for yourself.

Parking will be on your own.  I would prefer that you volunteer for all day, however I will try to accommodate limited support if you are unable to support all day.
