There will be refreshments, food and snacks to add to the social part of
the activity. In addition, there will be opportunities to view equipment
you might consider adding to your ham shack, as well as antennas.
Multiple modes of operation will be in use, so you can ask about
features and benefits of each of them. Portable power sources of
different brands will be in service, things that can become very
valuable with our hurricane season already starting.

A full summary from Jack
There are 7 acres (approximately) to work with, a large structure where we can set up with shelter from the elements (we have plans to deal with heat as well). Our gracious host and hostess are pulling out all the stops to make this a successful event, both with amateur radio and just good, friendly socializing.
So far in the listing I have :
8 attendees bringing radios
7 attendees bringing antennas
8 attendees bringing portable power sources.
Many others have signed up to come out and work a station, observe and lend helping hands to set up and participate. We have so many knowledgeable people that are coming that I am sure if there are any questions new to the hobby visitors have, we will have the resources to either answer or find the answer to questions.
The event will be held on June 27th and June 28th at the following location:
39745 Jozwiak Lane Prairie View, TX 77445
The event will run from 1300 DST Central (1800 UTC) June 27th until 1559 CDT (2059 UTC) June 28th.
There are several items that just need to be covered to make this as enjoyable as possible.
For those bringing radios – please also bring headphones or a headset – two advantages are, it’s easier to understand incoming call signs and it reduces the background noise in the environment where multiple stations will be operating at the same time.
Please bring a comfortable chair – there will be a few folding chairs available but we would prefer you focus on operating the radio and not how sore your butt is getting. Don’t ask me know I know.
For those bringing antennas, there aren’t trees to support your antenna, so bring whatever masts or poles necessary to get you up and on the air.
We would really appreciate as much as possible an accurate count of the number of excited people are going to visit on June 27th and June 28th. That way we’ll have plenty of vittles to keep even the most discerning visitor happy.
Bring some type of insect repellent. This is Texas, we grow everything bigger here and would hate to have someone carried away by a hungry swarm of mosquitoes.
There is a pool area available, no Olympic diving events are scheduled. The Cypress Gardens Water Ski Team did not respond to our invitation. Otherwise it is open to all, minors will be required to be supervised (maybe some adults too).
We will also have invited guest from other radio clubs stopping by to observe and operate. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, contacts that could prove valuable if situations may arise requiring area emergency communications. That is, after all, what started the Summer Field Day annual event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!! Bring friends, family, anyone who thinks you’re crazy for playing around with radios. You will be in good company!!
